Dark Sky Festival

Are you concerned about light pollution? Are you interested in astronomy? If you answered yes to either of these questions, be sure to head to Florida on April 5 and check out the Dark Sky Festival.

This festival is in its fifth year and promises to be better than ever. The goal of the festival is to promote night-sky viewing, without the interference of artificial light. If you think about it, this is a wonderful idea. How many of us live in areas that are lit up at night by streetlights or store signs? I know I'm surrounded by them. At the festival, you will enjoy looking at the sky through several types of telescopes while enjoying music or food. Children will enjoy the many activities available for them, such as the speaker who will present "Myths in the Night." You will also learn about environmentally intelligent lighting and practices that will help conserve energy. You will also have the opportunity to meet astronomers and other scientists.

We are all sure to benefit from the information that will be shared. The festival is free to everyone so if you are in the area, be sure to check it out.
